NEA Production Log
Pre-Production
Pinterest board creation
April 2026
- I began putting together a Pinterest board to gather inspiration for the video, and to find reference images to help visualise what I wanted to make
- I split the board into three sections: 'shots + camera angles', 'outfits + hair + makeup', and 'sets + locations'
- These images serve as inspiration and make details easier to remember later on rather than just written descriptions
Storyboard construction
21.04.2026 - 22.04.2026
- I've begun to construct a digital storyboard via Canva using the inspo images sourced from Pinterest
- This is to help me when it comes to shooting and editing the video
- It will allow me to know which shots are going to be used at which point in the song, how long for, when to film what, etc.
- It will also help match the lyrics to what's on screen
- It will aid with mise-en-scene and coming up with frames
- During these two days I created the first grid for the intro of the song:
23.04.2026
- Today I made grid 2, which covers the first verse of the song
- I used seven columns to help separate the different scenes and keep things organised
Photoshoots
02.07.2026
Today we did a photoshoot in class to improve our photography skills and possibly get some images for our websites. This helped me learn the importance of lighting and backgrounds. This also helped me to make use of my existing knowledge of camera angles and learn to use some new ones, such as the Dutch angle, which was very enjoyable to do. I learned how to instruct models and guide them through different poses, facial expressions, etc.
08.07.2026
Today I carried out a photoshoot with my main talent, Sam, to collect some more photos for my website. We experimented with different levels of lighting, both inside and outside, and tried out many different poses, facial expressions and backgrounds to ensure we had enough material to choose from. We were able to include an intertextual reference in our photos by including her shirt, which had Biggie on it, to show the connections between artists.
